The Colfax Business Improvement District’s mission is to protect, promote and enhance the assets of its property and business owners by providing a clean, safe, attractive, functional commercial district for its customers, visitors and employees.

The BID. and all State of Colorado business improvement districts were created by the Colorado State Legislature.  CBID, originally organized as the Colfax on the Hill Business Improvement District was chartered by Denver City Council in 1989.  Its board of directors are appointed by the Mayor of Denver and approved by Denver City Council. (Application for CBID Board)

CBID’s business improvement mission is advanced by attracting new investment; $34 million worth in the improvement of twenty properties over the past four years.  And by helping existing owners improve their properties by taking advantage of low-interest improvement loans through the Office of Economic Development; $1.7 million in MOED loans helped leveraged the $34 million in recent reinvestment.

Our mission is advanced by working on public safety issues in concert with Denver District 6 police, a community policing partnership that has received national recognition for its efficacy.  Since the partnership with District 6 began over ten years ago, reported crime has decreased by over 50% in our business district.

Our mission is advanced by building a community coalition with our neighbors through their organizations such as Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods, Colfax on the Hill, Inc., Uptown on the Hill, The Unsinkables and Capitol Hill United Ministries.  This coalition’s individual and collective interests are served by working together to improve Colfax as Main Street for all its stakeholders by assembling the political will to represent this community in the political process at City Hall.

Our mission is advanced by tackling thorny issues revolving around growth…parking, traffic, litter, congestion, public transportation, pedestrian safety and the over-all if overused “quality of life” issues for all our constituents:  customers, visitors, employees, neighbors, business and property owners.  That’s why the B.I.D. developed the Colfax Revitalization Action Plan, which in turn helped initiate the proposed “East Colfax Traffic Study”.

The board meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Alta Court Office Building at Colfax and Lafayette, conference room #108 (garden level) at 10:00 a.m.  The public is invited to attend these and all CBID meetings.
