We’re fortunate to have some incredible artistic talent in the Colfax community. We’ve partnered with local artists, businesses, non-profits, and students over the years to bring more art to the corridor.

Power Box Art

Each year, we transform the 15 power boxes in our district into vessels for art and storytelling. Check out the latest installation, Joy of Pride, as well as installations from the past few years. Thank you to all of the artists, community members, businesses, partners, and volunteers who make this project possible year after year!

2023: Joy of Pride

In June 2023, we celebrated 17 inspiring individuals from the LGBTQ+ community with our Joy of Pride installation.

2022: Counterculture

In July 2022, 17 local artists brought pieces to the street that are all about celebrating thinking and acting differently.

2021: Colfax Comeback

In July 2021, 16 local artists welcomed us back to the street with our Colfax Comeback installation.

2020: Colfax Strong

In August 2020, 13 local artists showed us what being "Colfax Strong" means to them.

2019: Stonewall 50

In May 2019, we teamed up with The Center on Colfax, Adrienne Norris, and East High students to install new art that tells the story of the LGBTQ+ movement.

2018: Vision Zero

In April 2018, WalkDenver, East High, and local artist Pat Milbery installed art that told the stories of those killed in traffic crashes

2016: Art on the Ave

In 2016, The Art on the Ave initiative kicked off by transforming our utility boxes into beautiful pieces of art. The project was funded by a grant from Denver’s Urban Arts Fund.

Banners

Our banners line the district on our pedestrian light poles. We rotate sets a few times per year, and after they’re done on the street, we upcycle them into bags and other goods. These sets are still in rotation, but if you want to be the first to know when they’re available for purchase, sign up for our newsletter.

2023: Cryptids of Colfax

In November of 2023, we launched a new set of banners designed by our Colfax tattoo artists that showcases the mythological creatures that roam the street.

2022: Less Fancy, More Fun

The Colfax community loved our "Less Fancy, More Fun" design created by Jeff Sloan so much that we turned it in to an entire set of banners.

2019: 30 Years of Colfax

In November 2019, we unveiled our latest set of street banners, designed by local artist Karl Christian Krumpholz, featuring eight iconic Colfax institutions, past and present.

2019: Tattoo Banners

In March 2019, we debuted a new set of banners designed by 12 artists from our local tattoo shops - Lifetime Tattoo, Bound by Design, and EOD Tattoo.

Colfax Ave Sculpture

In November 2019, we installed a seven-foot, larger-than-life sculpture of our logo on Colfax outside of the Fillmore Auditorium. Selfies encouraged.

Murals

A few incredible murals call our stretch of Colfax home, thanks to collaborations between local artists and property owners. Go visit them in person next time you’re in the ‘hood.
