Platinum-certified Canadian five-piece Walk Off The Earth today announces the first leg of their 2018 World Tour, marking the band’s first extensive trek throughout the United States in three years. Tickets for Walk Off The Earth’s dates go on-sale at 10 A.M. local time Friday Oct. 13 at http://www.walkofftheearth.com – a limited number of VIP upgrade packages, meet & greets, Q&A, sound check visits and more will also be available. The Juno Award-winning band most recently has released a string of highly successful singles including the Gold-certified Fire In My Soul and the EP, single and short film Taekwondo.
“Touring is part of the life blood of this band,” said Gianni Nicassio. “We love to pack it up and hit the road. There’s nothing like performing live. I can’t believe it’s been three years already since we’ve properly toured the U.S., and I can’t wait to drop our new show on our WOTElings.”
Walk Off The Earth is an unconventional, multi-talented five-piece musical phenomenon that has taken the world by storm. Based in Burlington, Ontario, their brilliant five-people-playing-one-guitar interpretation of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” exploded on YouTube garnering well over 35 million views in less than 2 weeks. Their YouTube channel has over 2.8 million subscribers, and their recent cover of “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran has been viewed more than 11 million times. The band also has an immense social media following, with almost 3 million Facebook likes. Its hit, “Fire In My Soul” was certified gold in Canada and was their first released under a unique deal the band recently signed with Universal Music Canada.
Fresh off a 30-day world tour making stops in North America, Europe and Australia and the birth of band members Gianni Nicassio’s and Sarah Blackwood’s third child, the band
released a self-produced short film titled Taekwondo and accompanying EP titled Taekwondo: The Soundtrack. In their lighthearted nature, the band tells the story of a young romantic (Nicassio) in pursuit of the girl of his dreams (Blackwood) while learning the skills of self-defense in preparation for a showdown with ninjas. Both the short film and EP were produced by Walk Off The Earth and featured all five band members, Nicassio, Blackwood, Ryan Marshall, Joel Cassady and Mike “Beard Guy” Taylor.
