In our Behind the Biz series, you’ll get to know the people behind some of your favorite local businesses along Colfax. This week, get to know Ryan Evans, owner of Bruz Off Fax.
Bruz Off Fax is located just off of Colfax on York St. in the historic Savageau Building. A diverse group of businesses call this building home, including Bruz, Smith + Canon, Hot Mamas Exercise, Urban Cookie, and Wax & Lash.
Tell us a little about yourself and your business. What made you decide to open Bruz Off Fax, and how long have you been in operation?
Being a Colorado native I’ve always enjoyed the notoriety of Colfax. Having seen Colfax change and grow over the years it’s really exciting to own a business on such a diverse corridor.
When the opportunity came to showcase our beers in a historic building on Colfax we jumped on it! We opened up our tasting room just before COVID hit.
Why did you choose Colfax?
We hand picked our location at Colfax and York for the incredible energy and eclectic nature of Colfax and Denver in general. We love the area, and wanted a funky, fun and interesting place to showcase our beers.
It’s fantastic being here. We get a great base of local neighbors that call us their home as well as visitors and commuters alike.
Tell us something about Bruz Off Fax that people might be surprised to learn.
We have one of the coolest patios on Colfax – no kidding! It’s an oasis behind the tasting room – clean, enjoyable, and has a European back alley feel to it. It’s truly a special place to not only enjoy our beers, but also the goods from our neighbors, including cookies and ice cream!
How is Bruz coping with the pandemic, and how can people support you right now?
We are holding on strong! We aren’t going anywhere – we love it here! Come in, enjoy a draft beer, and buy some to-go beers for your friends and neighbors – they will thank you for it and you will be ultra cool!
