As a Business Improvement District, we rely heavily on the participation and expertise of our board. The Colfax Ave Board of Directors is comprised of seven business and property owners within the district who serve on a volunteer basis to help set priorities for the organization.
We’d like to take an opportunity to thank our outgoing board president, Sean O’Connell, and welcome the BID’s new president, Andy Baldyga, and our newest board member, Jamie Rosenberry.
Sean served on the Colfax Ave BID board for six years. His generosity of time and resources was significant. From donating space — like the recently renovated Fillmore Auditorium for our Annual Meeting, or materials and supplies for our Art-i-fax Street Party, to meeting with staff weekly to make sure our BID “ship” stays on course.
For the last two years he served as the board president while also working crazy hours as the General Manager at The Fillmore. There’s no question about Sean’s commitment and talent to Colfax. His keen sense of budgeting, planning, and accountability have made us stronger as an organization.
At our Annual Meeting and Holiday Party in November, we presented Sean with an original piece of art by one of our favorite local artists, Karl Christian Krumpholz. The piece was framed by our very own AUM on Colfax and York. We are so very lucky to have these riches of talents in our Colfax community.
As Sean’s time on the board came to an end, Andy Baldyga stepped up to become the next board president. This is Andy’s third year on the Colfax Ave BID Board but his first in his new role as president. Andy has been an architect for The Mulhern Group for 15 years and lives just off of Colfax in the district. In addition to being the Colfax Ave BID board president, he has also served on the Colfax on the Hill Registered Neighborhood Organization board and served as its president for three years. He was also appointed by the Mayor and served six years on the Planning Board for Denver.
Andy brings a deep knowledge of Colfax and City processes, permitting, and development plans to the board. His insight will be imperative as we implement our Streetscape Plan and continue to see more development along the Colfax corridor.
Finally, we’d like to welcome our newest board member, Jamie Rosenberry. Jamie has served in the non-profit world for twelve years, in diverse roles ranging from development, to leadership coaching, to outreach among homeless youth in San Francisco. For the past three years, she has served at Open Door Ministries off Marion and Colfax, where she helps to oversee the daily operations of a social enterprise screen-printing business (Street2Life Print Shop) that provides transitional employment to individuals coming out of homelessness and incarceration.
Jamie also offers job coaching and resource navigation to individuals experiencing homelessness, is the site coordinator for the Women’s Homeless Initiative, and served as a member of our Colfax Works Advisory Committee. In keeping with her passion to see transformation in peoples’ lives, she is also pursuing her Certified Addiction Counselor licensure.
We are very thankful to have such an engaged and diverse board who is committed to making Colfax clean, safe, and friendly. To learn more about the rest of our board members, click here.
