WELCOME TO THE COLFAX COMEBACK.
It’s rare that you read an article about Colfax that doesn’t mention the word grit. Grit is defined as bravery, courage, and determination despite difficulty. We don’t think there’s a better word to describe our community.
Our local businesses have shown great strength and resiliency during an extremely tough time. They’ve turned parking lots into patios, boarded up windows into art, and adapted their spaces to keep you safe.
Welcome to the Colfax Comeback. As more and more people get vaccinated, our local businesses look forward to welcoming you back to the street. Keep scrolling for ways to support our local businesses. We can’t wait to see you again.

COLFAX COMEBACK POWER BOX ART
Each year, we work with local artists, students, non-profits, and businesses to turn our power boxes into vessels for art and storytelling.
2021’s installation, Colfax Comeback, showcases pieces from 16 local artists that capture the feelings that come with being able to gather together in person again.
Meet the artists and check out their pieces here.
OUTDOOR DINING
Patio season is here! Our stretch of Colfax has tons of patios and outdoor spaces to enjoy.
Thanks to advocacy from local businesses and Business Improvement Districts – and the City’s Temporary Outdoor Expansion Program – these outdoor spaces are here to stay through October 2022.

ART ON THE AVE
Art has the ability to bring the community together and provide us with the opportunity to reflect on experiences and imagine what the future might look like.
We’re so proud to have several powerful new pieces in our district.
- Detour (@detour303) and Heiro’s (@hieroveiga) tribute to George Floyd (pictured) is at Colfax and High.
- You’ll find “Healthcare Hero” by Austin Zucchini-Fowler (@austinzart) at Colfax and Williams.
- Adam Riola’s (@adamriola) “Freedom + Equality“ is at Colfax and Washington.
- Finally, you’ll find Zach Kotel’s (@zkotelart) “Colfax, Soul of Denver” at Colfax and York.

SUPPORT LOCAL
Unable to visit local businesses in person? Here are a few ways that you can support them from the comfort of your own home.
- Order takeout or delivery and tip the same amount as you would dining in.
- Help a neighbor + shop local. If your neighbors, friends, or family are in high-risk groups and need more isolation, offer to pick things up for them from local businesses rather than relying solely on online shopping from major corporations.
- Shop online or via phone. Many of our businesses have online shopping available; our local and independent shops will help you get what you need via phone, Facetime, or other methods, if necessary.
- Buy gift cards. Buy them for yourself, buy them for friends and family as holiday gifts, just buy them!
- Give your favorite biz a shout-out. It doesn’t cost a thing to give kudos to your favorite local businesses via social media, Yelp, or Google Reviews. It’s an incredibly difficult time for small business owners, and every bit of visibility and amplification helps.
