CHUN Historic Preservation Committee

January 29, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Please attend the next meeting of the Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods Historic Preservation Committee on Monday January 29 at 7pm. The temporary new location will be the Sheedy Mansion, 1115 Grant Street.

These items will be on the agenda and maybe more:
1. Tour of the landmark-designated Sheedy Mansion, which has recently been renovated.
2. Discussion about the history of Colfax Avenue with Jonny Barber, the curator of the Colfax Museum at 6109 East Colfax (inside the Ed Moore Florist building). The museum is definitely worth a visit and the curator is even more interesting to talk with. He is also an impersonator of Schuyler Colfax and may come in costume. He welcomes contributions for the museum, either financial or items, photographs, old restaurant menus, etc.
3. Discussion with Mike McPhee about his upcoming book about his grandfather, prominent Denver architect Jacques Benedict.

The Historic Preservation Committee is responsible for numerous historic districts as well as individually designated homes and buildings.

The Committee has been active for over 20 years and meets the last Monday of every month at 7PM at Castle Marne (1572 Race St. Denver 80218).
