“His name is George Watsky. He’s pale. He’s bugged out. He’s talented. He raps very fast.
And he’s got the Internet going nuts.” – The Source: Jan. 20, 2011.

Since exploding onto the music scene in 2011 with his breakthrough viral track “Pale Kid Raps Fast,” George Watsky, known simply as “WATSKY,” has quickly established himself as one of the hottest emerging talents on the hip hop/rap scene. Raised in San Francisco, CA by his librarian mother and psychotherapist father, Watsky’s pedigree instilled him with a sharp eye to analyze life and a vast love of words to quickly create lyrical artistry from his observations. At the age of 15, Watsky found an outlet for his talents after watching an episode of Def Poetry Jam, saying “From that moment forward, I was just in love with that art form and I’ve never stopped doing it.” During his freshman year of college, he won the 2006 Brave New Voices National Poetry Slam, which led to a starring role on the final season of HBO’s Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry and subsequently performed at 150 universities across the country. He self-released the jazz/hip hop record “Invisible, Inc.” in 2007 and in 2010 released the self-titled “Watsky,” which peaked at #7 on the iTunes hip hop charts. The following year he debuted at the top of Billboard’s Social 50 chart with the track “Pale Kid Raps Fast,” and in the months that followed his fan base skyrocketed along with his music. By the end of 2011, his subsequent music videos and “Epic Rap Battles of History” collaboration gained him more than 80 million viral views, a top trending spot on Twitter as well as two appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, a profile on Last Call with Carson Daly and across-the-board media praise from the likes of XXL, Billboard and New York Times Magazine.
