What does it mean to celebrate the gritty magic of Colfax? At our third Art-i-fax, we’re planning another epic block party on September 8th for “the most democratic street in America.” Curious to know what’s in store? Read on to discover the 10 people you’ll find at Art-i-Fax: Generations.

1. The Cheapskate.
First off, this street party costs absolutely nothing. Zilch. Zero. Nada. You’ll want to bring funds to buy food and drink and support the artisans and vendors, but there’s no charge to come meet neighbors, enjoy the music, and engage in most of our planned activities. For those who like free better than anything else, claim your FREE drink now by RSVPing on the Art-i-fax website.

2. The Glutton.
Sure, you’ll be able to purchase a variety of delicious food from local vendors like Spices Cafe, The Goods, and others, and we’ll also have food-based carnival games. Musical chairs meets a raffle during the Colfax Cake Walk. When the music stops, will you be the one eating a Voodoo Doughnut?

3. The Arts Enthusiast.
If you live to support local artists, you’ll enjoy our fun and funky arts programming, including a fashion show from our friends at Studio Colfax. Browse a variety of booths like 30 Miles of Crazy Comics’ Karl Christian Krumpholz (pictured below), handmade cards from The Gathering Place, and others. After all, you can’t have Art-i-fax without “art!”

4. The Community Advocate.
Art-i-fax: Generations marks the second year in a row that Park Ave will be transformed into a pop-up public plaza. The party is part celebration, part demonstration; we encourage attendees to let us know what kind of future programming you’d like to see along the corridor.

5. The History Buff.
What makes Denver, Denver? Historic Denver docents will give mini-tours, covering the history of Denver, Capitol Hill, and Colfax. Visit their booth to learn more about the venerable Molly Brown House and the many walking tours Historic Denver offers at locations throughout the city.

6. The Pet Lover.
Pets are welcome! Sniff out some fun and be sure to visit Peaceful Touch Pet Salon’s paw painting station to make art out of your dog’s paw prints. (Kids are welcome to make handprint art, too.)

7. The Breeders.
Beyond the all-ages programming we’ve already mentioned, kiddos will find creation stations to make their own Colfax crafts. In the afternoon, Wheelie the Book Bike will roll on down from the Denver Public Library with books and buttons. Speaking of books, throughout the day a few of Denver’s most literary drag queens will host storytime. Fierce!

8. The Music Lover.
Live music and Colfax celebrations go hand in hand. This year’s live music include a wide variety of sounds, like country darlings Chella and the Charm and hip hop from dope Denver lyricist, Connor Ray.

9. The Transit Guru.
When we say we’ll fill a pop-up public plaza, we mean one that’s pedestrian-friendly, wheelchair accessible, and bike-friendly. If you want to be 100% Colfax, take the 15! If you’re both a Transit Guru and a Fitness Fanatic, Green Door Fitness will guide us in a 30-minute group workout.

10. The People Watcher.
Rhetorical question: Is there any better place in Denver to people-watch than Colfax? (Note: see above about taking the #15 bus…) As a bonus, we’ll give you something extra to stare at when we honor a couple of very special community members with the 2018 “Characters of Colfax” awards!

Whether you’re a little bit hipster, a little bit square, or an OG Colfax resident, we hope you’ll join the diverse Colfax community on Saturday, September 8, when we temporarily close Park Ave from Colfax to Humboldt for Art-i-fax: Generations.
